Dear Friends,
By now, you have heard that Ann Sullivan (parent of David Sullivan ’95 & Andrew Sullivan ’98) former board member, administrator, beloved English teacher, mentor, colleague and friend, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
Ann was a pillar of the Friends community for many decades. During her 27-year tenure (1972-1999) Ann served Friends Seminary in various roles including Director of Admissions, Director of College Counseling, Director of Development and, later, Chair of the English Department.
Ann touched the lives of thousands of students and was a mentor and role model for countless teachers and alumni. Ann will be remembered by her colleagues for her abundant energy and enthusiasm, her wisdom and ambition. In 2018 Ann was honored as Faculty Emerita. In Ann’s Minute of Appreciation, former faculty member Daphne Taylor recalled that Ann “always had a minute for you.” Her special way of affirming the positive in the work of teachers has been vital to the development of those whom she mentored.
A memorial service will be held in the Meetinghouse on Saturday, January 11 at 2 PM. In the meantime, we hold Ann and her family in the Light.
Condolences for Ann’s family can be sent to Dick Sullivan at the address below:
